NRCS conservation programs seek to put billions into soil health
Approximately $19.5 billion of Inflation Reduction Act funds will support USDA’s conservation programs within the NRCS beginning in fiscal year 2023 and continuing over the following four years. This includes $8.45 billion for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program.
NRCS made available $850 million in fiscal year 2023. This is expected to more than double in 2024 and then increase substantially again in 2025. These funds flow to its oversubscribed conservation programs: the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP), Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) and Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP).

To support farmers and ranchers, the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) offers various grant programs aimed at promoting conservation and sustainable agriculture practices.
These grant programs are designed to provide financial assistance to farmers and ranchers who are looking to implement conservation practices on their land. The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is one such program that provides financial and technical assistance to agricultural producers to address natural resource concerns and deliver environmental benefits.
The Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) is another program that provides financial assistance to farmers and ranchers to implement conservation practices on their land.
Additionally, the USDA also offers the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), which provides financial incentives to landowners to convert highly erodible cropland or other environmentally sensitive acreage to vegetative cover, such as native grasses or trees.
Our Funding Regeneration program provides the services needed to enable farmers and ranchers to apply for these grant programs.
